The RCO filled the room at the first annual 2006 RCO Gala Dinner this past Saturday night in Lexington, Virginia to honor Juan & Maria Aguilar of El Toreo Restaurants.
Twenty-eight cycling enthusiasts enjoyed a wonderful menu at Cafe Michel's, most experiencing Michel Galand's thirty plus years of chef wizardry for the first time.
Folks arrived at and around 6:00pm to get acquainted with some wine and imported beer. When dinner was served, homemade lobster bisque soup was a popular choice, a creamy tomato based soup with a hint of pistachio which awoke the taste buds. The crispy calamari and portabella mushrooms were also a savory starter. The room fell silent when the entree choices were served - filet mignon, seafood ravioli, trout w/crabmeat and pecan chicken.
Of course, desserts have it's own menu, and what a selection: cheese cakes, chocolate mousse pies, ice cream, sorbet, puffed pastries... Needless to say, no one drove home hungry.
After dinner, Bob Bowman kicked on the slide show with race photos from Team El Toreo, RCO promoted races, and the typical hilarious shots. The evening led into a presentation of the upcoming Coventry Commonwealth Games of Virginia and the 2006 season for Team El Toreo.
As
for the dining, Michel Galand is a french
chef, a cyclist and a good friend.
The food is exquisite and the ambiance is
memorable. The new Lexington
location provides more opportunities, one
being that the RCO Gala Dinner had it's own private dining area. Please
